JAMIE McCOMBE looked ahead to Town’s big FA Cup tie at Premier League giants Arsenal tomorrow and said: “We have to make sure we can be proud of how we played.”

Lee Clark’s side will be backed by a sell-out 5,188-strong contingent of fans as they try to shine in front of ESPN cameras before resuming their promotion bid at home to Carlisle on Tuesday.

Centre-back McCombe says it’s in League I where Town will ultimately be judged this season, but believes the fourth-round clash, which kicks off at 12.00, can provide a big boost.

“We’re under no illusions about how tough it will be because we are taking on world-class stars,” said the 28-year-old, who has six goals to his credit this season.

“We know we are going to come under pressure and have to defend doggedly, and that we will have to make the most of the chances which come our way.

“But you go into any game believing you can win, and this one is no different, and you never know, Arsenal could have an off day.

“We have to make sure we play to our maximum, and if we come off knowing we gave it our all, nobody can ask any more.

“It’s all about pride – for the management, the players and the supporters – and a good performance will set us all up for the rest of the season.”
