Sheffield Wednesday defender Tom Lees says he and his teammates are facing the biggest seven weeks of their careers.

The play-off chasing Owls will spend the international break preparing for the visit to Huddersfield Town on Saturday, April 2.

After beating Charlton Athletic 3-0 at Hillsborough, sixth-placed Wednesday are targeting a third straight Championship win to keep them firmly in the hunt.

Like Town, Carlos Carvalhal’s side have eight league games remaining.

And former Leeds United man Lees said: “I think everyone in the dressing room is in the same mood. We are really focused.

“It’s probably the biggest seven weeks in a lot of our careers.

“We have to live our jobs for the next seven weeks, really knuckle down, be together and be professional.”

Former Town full-back Jack Hunt was stretchered off against Charlton but is expected to be fit for the Town clash.

Meanwhile former Town manager Chris Powell says Charlton fans deserve to know what owner Roland Duchatelet has planned for the relegation-threatened club.

Supporters have staged a series of protests aimed at the Belgian businessman in recent months, prompting a statement claiming some fans “want the club to fail”.

Powell, a popular former Charlton player and manager, said: “Whether you like protests or not, the fans feel they need to be heard.

“They want answers and, quite clearly, they are not getting them.”

Duchatelet recently claimed he has “empathy” for the fans, but said he was not prepared to sell the club.

Powell, sacked by Town in November, added: “They made the statement which I don’t think any supporter could understand.

“It quite clearly shows there is no synergy between the owners, the higher management and the fans.

“I don’t know what will happen. I’m sure many thousands of Charlton fans would like that question to be answered.”
