PETER JACKSON drew double satisfaction from the goalless draw with Real Sociedad.

And he was quick to tell Town fans: "Don't assume that because this is Andy Booth's testimonial season that it will be his last for the club."

The boss was delighted 7,142 supporters turned out to back Booth, 32, who will be out of contract at the end of the forthcoming season.

And he was encouraged by his side's showing against the Spanish top-flight team.

"It was a great work-out against a side who have a string of internationals and who are well respected in Europe," said Jackson, whose first team have just one more warm-up match, away to Chester on Saturday, before the August 5 League I opener at Gillingham.

"Our fitness and energy levels were good, and we escaped without any injury problems, which is always a bonus in any kind of game.

"I thought their defence was busier than ours, and it was great to see our new goalkeeper, Matt Glennon, keep a clean sheet on his home debut.

"The lads in front of him did well against awkward and experienced opposition too, and that's pleasing, because I said last season that we had to keep more clean sheets.

"If we can do that this time, we will succeed, because even though we didn't get any last night, I am confident we will score goals."

On Booth, he said: "It was great to see more than 7,000 turn out to support a real Town legend, and I know Andy was thrilled.

"Boothy, like the rest of the players, returned after the close- season break looking fit and strong, and that's typical of the man.

"It would be totally wrong to assume he is starting to wind down his career.

"He's got nine months to prove to me that he is worth another contract, and I think Andy has at least another couple of years left in him."
