NEW men Martin McIntosh and Mark Hudson make their club debuts against Coventry City tonight (8.00) as Town bid to join QPR in the final of Copa de Ibiza.

Ian Holloway's side went through with a comfortable 5-0 victory against an Ibiza XI last night.

All those travelling personnel can expect a run-out tonight with the exception of Andy Booth (ankle), Gary Taylor-Fletcher (stomach bug) and possibly defender Nathan Clarke, who has bad blisters.

That could force Jackson to revert to a 4-4-2 formation with McIntosh partnering David Mirfin at the heart of defence against a Coventry side with New Zealand international trialist Mark Paston in goal.

There are unlimited substitutions in the competition, in which matches go straight to a penalty shoot-out if scores are tied at 90 minutes, and Jackson aims to use all fit players.

"It's important we get the most out of this week in Ibiza and I'm confident my lads are fit, strong and looking forward to tonight's game against a good Championship side," said Jackson, whose squad held a session of swimming relays to round off training yesterday.

"We are here to work hard and to do as well as possible in this competition and so tonight's is an important game for us.

"Obviously we want to win and go through to Thursday's final and, if we play like we can, then I firmly believe we can go through and have a real shot at winning the trophy.

"That would be a tremendous achievement against two strong Championship sides and, while it certainly won't be easy, it's not beyond us either."

Booth and Taylor-Fletcher sat out most of morning training yesterday while the elder Clarke brother will only play tonight if he responds to treatment from physio Lee Martin.

"Boothy tried his best in the warm-up but didn't come through, while Fletch still can't keep his food down after getting some sort of bug on Saturday," explained Jackson.

"I wanted to play Gary with him being one of my new signings, but it's now looking doubtful, but the other two - Hudson and McIntosh - will aim to show what they are about.

"It's a good game for everyone, though, and a real test for us to kick-off our pre-season schedule.

"We just want to build on the solid start we've made to pre-season training and, while we know it will be difficult in this sort of 30-degree heat, just like it was for QPR last night even though the temperture had cooled, we are all looking forward to it."

QPR coasted it in front of a 1,200 crowd last night with goals by Martin Rowlands, Paul Furlong, Marc Bircham, Gareth Ainsworth and Stefan Moore.

If Town win tonight, they will play QPR in Thursday's final.

Should Town lose, they will play tomorrow against the Ibiza XI.
