THEY could be facing each other in League II today, but on Wednesday, Town midfielder James Berrett and MK Dons counterpart Stephen Gleeson will be teammates.

Both are in the Republic of Ireland Under 21 squad for the European Championship qualifier against Estonia in Tallinn.

Berrett will be hoping for a sixth cap at this level as Don Givens’ side try to bounce back after a 3-0 defeat by Turkey in their opening qualifier in June.

Also in Group II are Georgia, Switzerland and Armenia, and coach Givens said: “Estonia are a good side. They work very hard and will make it difficult for us, especially since they are at home. They went to Switzerland earlier this month and won.

“I saw that match and I was impressed by them. It’s a tricky fixture for us but I’m very happy with the squad I have.

“A lot of the players are experienced at this level, having been regulars with the Under 21s for some time now.”

Town reserves finally kick off their totesport.com League East Division campaign at Lincoln on Wednesday (7.00). Lincoln have played once, winning 1-0 at Bradford.
