James Vaughan looks like remaining a Huddersfield Town player – for the time being.

The striker was left out of Saturday’s home Championship clash with Queens Park Rangers.

Everton product Vaughan looked set to join Wigan Athletic, but sources suggest he has been unable to agree terms.

The injury-plagued former Premier League player has been told his Town contract won’t be renewed at the end of the season and that he is free to look for another club.

There has been interest from several, but no move has yet materialised.

The 27-year-old, a £600,000 signing from Norwich City two years ago, could leave when the Football League loan window opens next week.

Vaughan has played just once this season, from the bench in the 1-1 home draw with Brighton and Hove Albion.
