IT was County Cup day for many teams on Sunday and and the RCD League came out with a mixed set of results.

Top of the pile was YMCA Under 16s who travelled to North Leeds for their fourth round meeting with Colton.

A visit to the Leeds League leaders home was never going to be easy, and although the Huddersfield side were soon behind they fought back to gain a tremendous 4-3 win with the help of a hat trick from Sam Jerome.

Colton took the lead after only six minutes, but David Pearson replied almost immediately with a stunning overhead kick and by half time a Jerome double strike put the Laund Hill outfit in a strong position.

But there was a tough second half for Pete Appleby's YMCA to negotiate and Colton were soon back on level terms to set up a tense final 10 minutes.

With extra time looking inevitable, a corner was only half cleared by the Colton defence and Jerome prodded home his third and the winning goal to book the Huddersfield side a place in the last eight of the competition.

The biggest shock came in the same age group, where previously unbeaten Norristhorpe were dumped out of the Cup by Colton's rivals for the Leeds League title, Leeds Lions.

Battyeford also booked a place in the quarter finals with an extra time and penalties win over Moorend Hornets

In the Under 14 County Trophy only Warley Rangers were successful from the RCD League. A 3-0 win over Dewsbury Rangers puts them in the hat for the last eight of the competition although they will be joined by either Dalton Dynamoes or Battyeford, who will play next week as their game was called off due to a waterlogged pitch.

Westend, Battyeford and Howden Clough were all successful in the Under 12 County Shield.

Joe Kershaw (2), Ryan Wilson, Anthony McMahon and Matthew Rushworth gave Westend a last-eight berth with a 5-2 win over Gomersal.

Howden Clough's unbeaten title chasers had a comfortable 6-0 victory over Hebden Bridge Saints with four goals for Kieran Briggs and one each for Thomas Duffy and Joshua Twohig.
