Joe Murphy is backing former Huddersfield Town boss Mark Robins to make a success of his move to Scunthorpe United.

Robins made an October return to management at Glanford Park, where the Town keeper had five years earlier in his career, having left the John Smith’s Stadium after the first match of the season.

His task is to lead the Iron away from the League I relegation zone, and so far they have lost just one of his six games at the helm.

“I’d really like to see Mark do a good job, because it’s a club which is close to my heart,” said Murphy, who signed from Coventry City in the summer and made his league debut against Sheffield Wednesday last Saturday.

“I had a great five years at Scunthorpe, and I worked under Mark at Coventry, so we have a good relationship.

“When he heard I was out of contract at Coventry in the summer, he came in to get me, and I was delighted with that.

“Mark leaving after the first game was hard to take, but that’s football. I’m old enough to know these things can happen.

“Hopefully he’ll do a good job and take Scunthorpe out of that bottom four and then kick on.”
