Joel Lynch believes full-back Ben Chilwell has a big future – whether it’s at Leicester City or elsewhere.

The teenager, who skippers England Under 20s, has returned to the East Midlands club after the end of his eight-game loan stint at Huddersfield Town.

He is being linked with a string of Leicester’s Premier League rivals, including Arsenal and Liverpool.

Town head coach David Wagner would like to have Chilwell’s services for longer, but rates the chances of it happening as “not so high”.

Centre-back Lynch played alongside Chilwell on the left side of Town’s defence in the Championship win at Bolton Wanderers.

“He’s a brilliant young player. I’ve never played with a teenager like him,” said the 28-year-old Wales international.

“He has confidence and ability on ball and he looks like he’s been playing for years.

“Ben’s a good lad too, he gets on well with everyone and isn’t at all big-headed.

“It’s no surprise other clubs are tracking him, it’s all ahead of him and good luck to him.

“Ben has a big future and playing for England has to be a serious possibility.

“It would be great to keep him, but whether we can or not, I don’t know.

“If we can’t, we have Jason Davidson, who came in at QPR and played really well.”

Town are up to 18th in the table after earning seven points from their last three games.

“The gaffer set us some aims before the Bolton game – a good performance, some goals and clean sheet, and we achieved them,” said the former Nottingham Forest player.

“It was tough early on, but we got through it when in the past, we might not have, and that bodes well.

“I thought we grew into the game and controlled the second half and in the end, we could have won by more.”

Town are in FA Cup third-round action at home to Championship rivals Reading on Saturday and have to wait until Tuesday, January 12 for another league game, at home to Charlton Athletic.
