Joel Lynch says Huddersfield Town are determined to put on a show for their supporters when Norwich City come to the John Smith’s Stadium.

Chris Powell’s 18th-placed side aim to take another step towards ending fears of being drawn into a Championship survival struggle while putting the brakes on their visitors’ promotion push.

And centre-back Lynch says the players are eager to atone for their dismal display against Rotherham United in their last home outing.

Saturday’s battling 1-1 draw at Birmingham City sealed a first point in four games and Lynch said: “We showed some character and commitment.

“And we certainly need to do that against Norwich, because when Rotherham came to our place, we all let ourselves down.”

The 27-year-old returned from a seven-match injury lay-off for the 2-0 defeat and was far happier with both his own and the team’s display at Birmingham.

“We did enough to win the game, but we’ll take a good away point and do our best to build on it against Norwich,” he added.

“We need to maintain the intensity we showed on Saturday and put on a show for our fans.

“They were rightly upset after the Rotherham game, but when we win matches, everyone is happier.”

Town’s two leading scorers Nahki Wells (shoulder) and Harry Bunn (hamstring) are both doubtful.

And boss Powell will run a check on left-back Jack Robinson (knee).

Both striker James Vaughan and midfielder Jacob Butterfield will be up against their former club.

Meanwhile Huddersfield-born Cameron Jerome scored for fifth-placed Norwich in their 1-1 home draw with Derby County on Saturday.
