JORDAN RHODES put pen to paper on a new Town contract on the day he was called up to the Scotland under-21 squad and vowed: “There’s plenty more to come from me.”

The 21-year-old (pictured) has netted 40 times in 90 appearances since signing from Ipswich during the 2009 close-season.

Originally contracted for four years, his new deal runs for a further two, keeping him at the Galpharm until 2015.

He was called up to the international squad to face Belgium on March 24 just hours after signing the contract. His dad, Andy, played in goal for both Dunfermline and St Johnstone.

It’s a big pick-me-up after the setback of Anthony Pilkington’s broken leg and ankle dislocation as promotion-chasing Town prepare to face Bristol Rovers in the West Country this afternoon.

Rhodes said: “Everyone associated with the club has been great with me and it’s an honour to have extended my contract.

“I think I have a lot more to give, and I’m certainly not happy to rest on my laurels. In the years and games to come, I want to carry on scoring.’’

Town manager Lee Clark, who agreed contract extensions with Pilkington and Lee Peltier earlier this season, said: “It’s very positive news.

“Jordan has been excellent ever since he came here and has scored lots of goals.

“He’s a great lad who wants to keep improving and hopefully that will happen here at Huddersfield.

“We have become a very attractive club to players because we are very ambitious and we are heading in the right direction.”

Town, third in League I, will set up base at a hotel in the Bristol area after today’s game as they prepare for Tuesday’s match at Brentford.

“The facilities provided, with a gym and a swimming pool, are perfect,” said Clark.
