KIRKBURTON Middle School’s girls’ football team is going from strength after completing a hat trick of victories in the West Yorkshire Schools Under 13 Cup.

Head of PE Philippa Proctor said: “We have a bunch of very talented and committed girls who train hard under coach Laura Booth.

“Many of them are also connected with two of the big clubs in the area, Kirkburton and Lepton Highlanders, where they also enjoy quality coaching.”

In this year’s cup tournament, Kirkburton Middle beat Castleford High, Hipperholme and Lightcliffe, Mirfield Free Grammar and Brooksbank Sports College of Elland, before defeating Normanton Freestone 7-0 in the final held at Ossett Town.

As well as the West Yorkshire tournament they have also enjoyed success in Huddersfield, where the Year 7 Under 12 team are the current six-a-side Indoor champions, as are the Under 13s, who are also the Huddersfield schools champions.
