LINTHWAITE Under 11s were delighted their match at Drighlington got the go-ahead – because they came away with a superb 5-1 win against one of their promotion rivals in Division II.

Mason Hodgson scored for Drighlington but replies from Dray Marren (2), Luke Lambert (2) and Bayley Tindall secured three points to leave Linthwaite one point behind leaders Westwood Jets and six points clear of third-placed Drighlington.

Despite the wet weather and a blanket ban on all Kirklees-owned grounds, a small number of games were played on privately-owned grounds and those outside the Kirklees boundary.

Savile Town and Golcar United are the pacesetters in Division III of the Under 11s and, while United’s game was postponed, Savile Town retained their 100% record with a 6-0 victory at Ossett Albion.

Westend’s Under 12 league leaders suffered the heartbreak of dropping two vital points in injury time at Vision.

The Salendine Nook side took full advantage of a strong wind and with goals from Harry Freeth, Reece Ford and Matt Dorotiak took a 3-0 lead into the second half.

As expected, Vision soon pulled one back, only for Westend to add another through Kyle Forde to make it 4-1.

Despite another two goals from Vision, the visitors looked to have sealed the points until a stoppage-time strike levelled the scores. Westend still lead the division but their rivals have games in hand.

Collegians Under 13’s leapfrogged opponents Rastrick to take third place in Division III.

Shelley Under 13s had a terrific time in cup games.

Firstly, they took on Fourth Division leaders Shelf in their much-delayed first round League cup game.

Shelf could find only a single reply as Luke Schofield (2), Lewis Hartley, Jack Bunting, Reece Hewitt and Adam Broadbent earned First Division Shelley a 6-1 victory and another tricky meeting with Fourth Division Linthwaite.

The following day, Shelley did well again in their Sheffield Under 13 County Cup game against Edlington White Stars.

The Doncaster side were unable to find a reply as Lewis Hartley (2), Jack Bunting (2) and Luke Schofield sent Shelley into a fourth round (last 16) meeting with Sheffield side Norton Lees.

Hepworth gave their season a welcome boost with a narrow 5-4 win over Mount Pleasant in their Under 15 Division III.

Another team hoping for a successful season this time are Crosland Moor Under 15s and victory over promotion rivals Clifton Rangers will have given them a handy boost.

Despite a Daniel Simpson strike for the Brighouse side, goals from Carl Whitwam, Gilbert Yankey and Fabian Johnson leave Crosland Moor handily place among the leading group with just one defeat from six games.

Marsden’s trip to Shelf for a delayed first round cup game proved a fruitless journey as Shelf won the tie 5-2.
