BOTH sides have suffered mixed fortunes so far this season and the prize for the winner was a place in the top half of Division II of the Under 15 section.

Rastrick captain Ryan Brown took charge from the kick off and the midfielder's accurate passing meant that Battyeford defenders Liam Roadnight and Jordan Porter had to be at their best as their opposite numbers from Rastrick, Josh Porter and George Cohen, threatened at every opportunity.

A Cohen chip flew just over the bar and a Brown shot went past the post before Scott Ashton finally hit the mark to give Rastrick a deserved lead on 25 minutes.

Battyeford needed some inspiration and it came in the form of Tom Addy who finally cancelled out Rastrick's dominance and by half time a re-vitalised Battyeford were back on level terms.

A through ball caught the Rastrick defence square and, although keeper Joe Dransfield blocked Michael Rounding's shot, Addy pounced on the rebound to fire home the equaliser.

The introduction of Gibril Bojang gave Battyeford an extra dimension and when the tricky frontman was brought down in the box, Addy fired home the resulting penalty.

Bojang's influence was visible throughout the second half and he was unlucky not to get on the scoresheet himself as a 20-yard drive was blocked on the line before a cheeky back-heel rebounded from a post

As time ticked away Rastrick began to throw everything forward in search of an equaliser but when Brown's defence- splitting pass was met by Ashton, the normally reliable striker blasted his shot high and wide.

Rastrick might feel they should have got something from this game but Battyeford's second-half display was enough to give them a deserved three points.
