HUDDERSFIELD Town have been warned to ignore the results of Kilmarnock’s first two friendlies.
Rugby Park boss Kenny Shiels has promised the Galpharm side a tough test a week tonight – despite his Scottish Premier League team losing 3-2 to Livingston and 4-1 to Morton, both of the Scottish First Division.
“I’ve been pleased with the lads because although they made mistakes, which you expect of young players, it’s a learning curve,” said Shiels, whose side are currently South of the border for games at Wrexham tonight and Chester on Saturday.
“It’s been about fitness and distributing the gametime around the players. It will be in our games against Huddersfield and Bristol City that we match-like approaches.”
Town head for Scotland after Saturday’s opening pre-season friendly at Blue Square North club Guiseley.
After facing Killie, they head for Hibs on Saturday week.
Hibs say the fall-out from the Rangers crisis has jeopardised their bid to sign former Leeds full-back Alan Maybury.
