KIRKBURTON booked their place in the last four of the Rosehill Press Association Challenge Cup with a hard-earned 3-2 win over Everest at Hallas Road.
They will look forward to a semi-final in the Sheffield and Hallamshire FA competition on Saturday, March 9, after winning through their quarter-final clash with a late goal from Jack Greene.
Kirkburton made the best of starts against their Sheffield rivals with James Meadows paving the way for Joshua Williams to score after 12 minutes, but the home side would find that their rivals did not give up the battle lightly.
It was not until the second half that Kirkburton managed to add their second when, two minutes into the second period, Ryan Jagger provided the pass that put Daniel Morgan in to score.
The home side made a switch on 65 minutes with Dan Ingham replacing Harry Philpot, but it wasn’t until eight minutes from time that they managed to hit their winner.
Daniel Morgan was the man with the assist as striker Greene pounced for the crucial goal.
Kirkburton: Garetty, Hugill, Williams, Philpot (Ingham 65 mins), Sykes, Jagger, Meadows, Morgan, Greene, Aspinall, Tindle.
