TOWN Ladies secured the North East Regional Women’s Premier League title and promotion to the Northern Combination League with an emphatic 9-2 win at Hessle.
Player-of-the-match Kate Mallin opened the scoring after five minutes to relieve any early nerves.
Mallin turned provider on 16 minutes with Emily Heckler finishing well. A minute later Hessle pulled a goal back.
On 25 minutes Heckler restored the advantage with a left-foot shot and, three minutes later, Mallin set up Sarah Griffiths who finished well from six yards.
Jo Symington scored just before half time to give Town a comfortable 5-1 lead.
The second half started more sedately with the strong wind making controlled play difficult.
Hessle pulled a goal back on 70 minutes, but with Town playing some excellent passing football, Heckler scored three further goals in the 80th, 88th and 89th minutes – with Mallin wrapping up the game in the 90th to complete an excellent all-round team performance.
This has been an excellent season for Town Ladies, catching Barnsley at the last moment having at one stage been 17 points behind them.
In 32 games played in all competitions Town have won 25, drawn one and lost six, been to two finals and won the league cup.
