TOWN Ladies progressed smoothly into the semi-finals of the Sheffield and Hallamshire Women’s County Challenge Cup with a 14-0 win over County League team Barugh Ladies.

Emily Heckler got the first of her goals after just three minutes with a strike from outside the area which flew into the top left hand corner of the net.

Barugh fought hard to keep Town at bay and it took until 23 minutes for Town to get their second, when centre half Faye Chadwick struck from a corner.

Player of the match Emma Poole made it three a minute later and further goals from Jo Symington and three more from Heckler made it 7-0 at half time.

In the 50th Poole got her second, followed by goals from Andrea Haigh, two from Kate Mallin, Becky Shaw, Poole’s hat trick goal and the final one from substitute Jade Robshaw with five minutes remaining.

Town’s next game is on Sunday at home at the Hipperholme and Lightcliffe Sports College against Guiseley Ladies (1.30).

Town’s Under 17 side also hit the goal trail as they won 8-0 at Howden Clough.

Soraya Jarrett led the way with a hat trick and there were further goals from Emily Cook (2), Shauna Messenger (2) and Charlotte Thomas.

There is no game for the Under 17 team this coming weekend, but the Under 15 side’s next game is on Saturday at Grange Moor to Wigton Moor United (10.30).

The Under 13 team proved too strong for Sprotbrough and Cusworth, notching an impressive 6-2 win away from home.

After six weeks without a game due to bad weather conditions, Town started brightly when a through ball from player of the match Ella Gill put Katie Lockwood in to finish smartly.

A minute later Lockwood was put through again this time by Natalie Mabbott, again Lockwood finished well.

Sprotbrough came back into the game with two good goals and Town keeper Emilia Samuels was called into action on a number of occasions to keep the game level at half-time.

Gill put Town 3-2 in front early in the second half with a curling shot into the top corner and, in the 50th minute, Mabbott put Town 4-2 up. Further goals were added by Lockwood, to complete her hat trick, and Gill.

The Under 13s’ next game is on Saturday at Grange Moor to Crosspool Juniors (10.30).
