TOWN Ladies go into their home clash against Whitley Bay on Sunday looking to build on an impressive 5-0 away win at Durham in the North East Regional Premier Division.

Town, who host the game at Hipperholme & Lightcliffe Sports College (1.30), were in excellent form and were soon two goals to the good with a Kate Mallin double.

Emily Heckler was the provider again on 51 minutes with Sarah Griffiths scoring from close range and Mallin completed her hat trick on 69 minutes from a Heckler through ball.

The scoring was completed by Emma Pool from distance two minutes from time.

The Under 17s drew 1-1 away with Lepton Highlanders to keep their chase for the league title firmly on course.

Highlanders took the lead in the first half from a corner but after 20 minutes of the second period Messenger managed to chip the ball over the home side keeper to even the scores.

The Under 17 team’s next game is on Sunday away at Bolton Woods (11.00).

The Under 15s, whose game was postponed, are at home (Grange Moor) tomorrow to Wigton Moor United in the league cup (10.30).

The Under 13 side crashed out at the semi-final stage of the league cup as they slipped to an 8-2 home defeat at the hands of Crosspool Juniors.
