HUDDERSFIELD Town ladies put in a hard-working performance as they scored a 5-2 win over Hull City.

Town went ahead after eight minutes when Katie Barnes finished from close range after a cross from Emily Heckler. Hull equalised on 22 minutes, but Heckler restored the lead on 37 minutes.

The goal of the game came in the 50th minute when the Hull keeper rushed from her area to clear the ball but it fell to Kate Mallin in the centre circle and she struck the ball clean into the back of the Hull net.

Town were then awarded a penalty when Heckler was tripped in the box. Barnes spot kick was parried away for a corner by the Hull keeper, but from the corner player-of-the-match Jo Symington struck an unstoppable shot as the ball came out of the Hull box to put Town 4-1 ahead.

Heckler hit her second of the game on 61 minutes, before Hull pulled a goal back four minutes later. The first team’s next game is on Sunday away to Peterlee Ladies (2.00)

With only eight players available, Town’s reserves put up a brave display as they lost 6-4 away to Rothwell Ladies.

Town’s goals were scored by Jo Atkinson (3) and Sandra Bates. Player-of-the-match was Lauren Pashley.

The reserves next game is on Sunday away to Tingley Athletic Ladies (2.00).

The Under 16 team are back in action on Sunday away to Appleby Frodingham (11.00).

The Under 14 team beat Hebden Bridge Saints 11-0 away and their next game is on Saturday at home (Grange Moor) to Bradford City (10.30).

In the Under 12 League Shield Town progressed with a 7-0 win over Normanton – goals from Holly Coulson, Lauren Buckley (2) and Amy Thompson (3) together with an own goal gave Town a deserved win.

Their next game is on Sunday way to Burley Trojans (10.00).
