HUDDERSFIELD Town Ladies are now unbeaten in seven games after a 2-0 win at Stockport.

Town were the stronger team in the first half and created a number of chances without scoring – Emily Heckler, Jo Symington and Kate Mallin all going close to breaking the deadlock.

In the second half Stockport came out with more determination but the stalemate was broken on 50 minutes when Heckler scored from 25 yards with an unstoppable shot.

Stockport then took control of midfield for long periods of the game and only some outstanding defending from Aleathia Smith kept them at bay.

Nerves were calmed in the final minutes when Katie Barnes sealed victory for Town with a good finish from close range.

The first team are at home (Canalside) against Salford Ladies on Sunday (3.00).

Town Ladies reserves remain top of West Riding League Division III as a 9-0 thrashing of Tingley Athletic Reserves brought a third straight win.

Four goals from player of the match Shauna Messenger, plus two each from Rebecca Blaeford and Emma Taylor and another from Raegen Cartledge gave Town a convincing victory. On Sunday the reserves take on Amaranth at home (Grange Moor, 2.00).

Town’s Under 16 side notched an 8-0 win over Hebden Bridge Saints at Grange Moor.

Town took the initiative gained the lead when Bex Moore cut in from the left and curled a shot into the opposite top corner.

Hannah Leech made it two when she shot home from ten yards, Hollie Douglas scored with a cross shot from the edge of the area and Alice Linsell then made it four when she scored from 30 yards.

Town continued to press in the second half and Sophie Pye added to the lead before Abby Sanderson scored from 25 yards for her first goal for the club to make it six.

Alice Linsell made it seven with a fierce shot from close range and finally Sophie Pye headed home.

The Under 16 side have no game next weekend.

Town’s Under 14 side put in another convincing performance to notch a 6-2 win at Worksop Girls.

Goals from Kirsty Hanson, who bagged five, and one from Katie Lockwood sealed victory.

The Under 14 side are at home (Grange Moor) to Doncaster Rovers Belles on Saturday (10.30).

The Under 12 side had no game last weekend, but are at home (Grange Moor) to AFC Mosborough on Saturday (10.30).
