TOWN Ladies gained revenge on Sheffield for defeat in last season’s Women’s FA Cup when they gained a 2-1 victory in this season’s first qualifying around.

Town went one up early on when Rachel Petyt was left unmarked to head home a corner.

Sheffield equalised after 52 minutes but Petyt hit the bar and then gained reward when another of her efforts was headed in by a defender.

Town’s next game is at home to Barnsley at Emley on Sunday (2.00).

Other results: Town Res 1 ( Stacey Cittos) Collingham Res 0, Goole Town U14 8 Town U14 1 (Heather Haigh), Nostell Miners U12 2 Town U12 5 (Ebony Allison, Georgia Cooke, Rebecca Moore, Alice Linsell, Seana Potts).

The Reserves are at home to Silsden on Sunday (2.00, Grange Moor); while the Under 14s play Howden Clough at the same venue (11.00). The Under 12s are at home to Wigton Moor at Kirkburton Middle (11.0).
