Sellars lands job as Richardson’s No2

CHESTERFIELD manager Lee Richardson has named former Town teammate Scott Sellars as his new assistant manager following Alan Knill’s appointment as Bury boss.Richardson also played with 42-year-old Sellars at Blackburn and the pair took their coaching qualifications together.Sellars, who was working with the youth set-up at Sheffield United, said: “I am honoured to get my chance and am really looking forward to getting stuck in.”Richardson, Spireites manager since last March, said: “I have known Scott for many years and am delighted he is joining us.”Sellars’ first match will be at Grimsby on Saturday.

Loans required

Walsall boss Richard Money knows he will have to use the loan system to keep their promotion push on track.The Saddlers lost for the first time in 18 League I games at Carlisle on Saturday but still sit in the play-off places.The loss of Dan Fox and Scott Dann last month has depleted Money's squad but he said: “We have Ian Roper and Anthony Gerrard but that’s not enough.”We need to bring someone in. Roper’s bought me some time but who am I going to bring in who is better?”

Forest capture

Nottingham Forest manager Colin Calderwood will sign Watford striker Will Hoskins on loan until the end of the season on Friday.The Reds have agreed terms and the 21-year-old will complete his move when the loan window reopens.Nottingham-born Hoskins joined Watford from Rotherham last season but failed to make an impression at Vicarage Road.He was on loan at Millwall earlier this season and may make his Forest debut against the Lions on Saturday.

Coke’s all-clear

Northampton midfielder Giles Coke could be available to face Leeds on Saturday after being cleared to resume training.The 21-year-old former Mansfield player had scans on his knee injury this week.“Giles had a sore knee on Saturday morning,” said Cobblers manager Stuart Gray.“The good news is the scan showed no problems.“After being out for a long time you can get soreness in the first few weeks but he trained strongly on Tuesday morning without any ill-effects.”

New defender

Charlton have completed the signing of Portuguese centre-back Paulo Monteiro as a free agent.The 23-year-old was released by Romanian side Farul Constanta.Monteiro impressed boss Alan Pardew in a reserve match against Crystal Palace last month, and has put pen to paper on a contract until the end of the season.“I want to prove I am good enough to play for Charlton and win a longer contract at the end of the season,” he explained.Charlton are at home to Neil Warnock’s Crystal Palace in a Championship derby on Friday.
