SCUNTHORPE knocked Leicester off the top of League I with a 3-0 home win over Crewe.

The Foxes had reached the summit by beating Town, but didn’t have a game on Saturday because of the internationals.

Nigel Adkins’ Iron went above them on goals scored after Martyn Woolford (35 minutes), ex-Town loan man Paul Hayes (67) and Izzy Iriekpen (80) netted.

Oldham went third, a point behind the top two, by beating Hereford 4-0 at Boundary Park yesterday.

Lee Hughes, Andy Liddell, with a penalty, and Daniel Jones scored in the first half before Danny Whitaker completed the scoring in the final minute, by which time Hereford’s Stephen O’Leary had been red carded.

Leeds are fourth after beating Brighton 3-1 at Elland Road.

Luciano Becchio volleyed Leeds in front a minute before the break and Jermaine Beckford added two more (45 minutes and 90). Glenn Murray managed an injury-time consolation.

Sixth-placed Millwall enjoyed a comfortable 3-1 win away to Tranmere with Leeds loanee Tresor Kandol scoring twice.

MK Dons were 3-1 home winners against Carlisle with Peter Leven grabbing two, the second from the penalty spot.

And Danny Coles and Craig Hinton scored second-half goals as Bristol Rovers, Town’s visitors on Saturday, came from behind to beat Leyton Orient 2-1 at home.
