TOWN fans will be hoping for a favour from Brentford tomorrow night.

They got one from Walsall on Saturday, with the Saddlers’ 1-0 home win over Colchester meaning Lee Clark’s seventh-placed side are just two points behind the Essex team, who currently occupy the sixth and final play-off berth.

Colchester, who lost out to Darren Byfield’s last-gasp goal for Walsall, who had skipper Mark Hughes sent off, have a game in hand – at home to Brentford, who won 1-0 at Stockport.

Town are six points behind Saturday’s visitors Charlton, whore third, and Swindon, in fourth, after both drew.

Charlton missed the chance to put the pressure on second-placed Leeds, who host fifth-placed Millwall tonight, as they were forced to come from behind for a 2-2 draw with Gillingham.

Frazer Richardson’s long-range opener for the Addicks was cancelled out within two minutes by an equally spectacular Andy Barcham volley.

Dennis Oli put the Gills in front on the stroke of half-time but David Mooney fired in Therry Racon’s cross.

Swindon struck in the last minute for a 1-1 home draw against leaders Norwich.

Grant Holt headed the Canaries in front from Mike Rose’s cross and Chris Martin’s long-range free-kick clipped the crossbar.

But in injury time Gordon Greer headed home from a corner.
