LEE CLARK is firmly behind Huddersfield Town chairman Dean Hoyle over the stadium shares issue.

Hoyle and an army of fans are bidding to get back the football club’s 40% stake in the stadium which has been transferred to Ken Davy’s Huddersfield Sporting Pride company.

The two can’t reach agreement and Kirklees Council – also partners in the stadium company, Kirklees Stadium Development Ltd – have pledged to do all they can to bring about a resolution to the impasse.

Fans will protest about the issue at tomorrow’s match and Clark said: “I have got to be behind them and behind the owner, because what he is trying to do for the football club is for the benefit of everybody – mainly for the supporters, for the good of the football club and to help everyone in terms of the stadium situation.

“I don’t know the full ins and outs because I’m here to manage the football team, but I know he (Hoyle) wants everything put in place in the right and proper way. it should be done so everyone can progress – the stadium company, ourselves and the rugby club, without any complications.”

Clark added that Town are growing as a club both on and off the field.

“On the pitch, the quality of performances and how we are doing on a regular basis is going the right way and the value of the squad is massive,” he said.

“We have had probably the biggest percentage rise in value of the squad over the last three years of all clubs, and the commercial side of the club is also growing hugely in terms of the partners they have, corporate deals and ticket sales.

“All that is part of the club growing and Dean and the board, hopefully, can overcome this hurdle (with the shares).”
