TOWN manager Lee Clark hailed “a terrific team performance” after his side’s 2-1 success at Scunthorpe United last night.
Goals from Tom Clarke, his first of the season, and Gary Roberts, now leading scorer after netting his 11th, wiped out Martyn Woolford’s opener which had come against the run of play.
Clark praised the quality of both finishes – and the displays of Scunthorpe old boys Jim Goodwin and Andy Butler.
Goodwin was booed throughout by the home fans in a 5,543 crowd, but Clark said: “I thought Jim was outstanding for us and so was Andy.
“I told them both before the game about the meaning of returning to your old club and the importance of enjoying the contest.
“It’s all about getting a win and that’s what they went out and did!
“I am delighted with the whole performance. We started the game very well, passed the ball tidily and performed strongly both in possession and without the ball. There were some very good individual displays.
“It was a great result but now it is all about Carlisle at home on Monday, that’s another match we are determined to win.”
