LEE CLARK is looking forward to working with Taser Hassan.

The 18-year-old former Portsmouth winger has been handed a contract to the end of the season – and urged to prove he’s worth a longer deal.

“He is young in terms of his football knowledge, experience and education,” explained Town’s manager.

“Taser also needs to work on his fitness, because he has faded towards the end of the two reserve games he’s played in.

“But there is undoubtedly something for us to work with in terms of the basics of the game.

“He is a right-sided wideman who likes to take players on and get in crosses and, when possible, shots, and he scored a cracker in the reserve game against Rotherham on Wednesday.

“We had a good look at him over a two-week period, and decided that if we could get some professional coaching into him, he could be a bright young player ready for next season or even the closing stages of this one.

“He needs to build up his stamina levels and sustain some of the quality work he’s produced already for longer periods, but he certainly has the attributes.”

Born in Kent of Turkish Cypriot descent, Hassan, who has also played an academy game for Town, has already had a varied career.

As well as Portsmouth, he has had a spell at Gillingham as well as Brazilian club Atletico Paranaense and also played for non-league sides Cray Wanderers, AFC Fisher and Harlow Town.
