TOWN’S away form has to improve quickly if they are to make the League I play-offs.

That’s the message from determined manager Lee Clark as he prepares for tomorrow’s test against Crewe Alexandra at Gresty Road (3.00).

We are under no illusions that our away form has to improve, and improve quickly, if we want to do anything in terms of the top six,” said Clark, who watched Andy Booth return to action in the Reserves on Wednesday.

“Crewe are off the back of a great win down at Southend and with their reputation for producing good football and good players, we are expecting a tough game.

“From our point of view it’s essential we start picking up more points on our travels and we can’t keep on letting these opportunities pass us by. We need to start making inroads now.”

Clark has only Danny Cadamarteri (calf) and Malvin Kamara (knee) injured. There is no place in the squad for Matt Jansen, who is training with the club, and Clark says it’s ‘extremely doubtful’ Jonathan Tehoue will have international clearance by tomorrow.

“We are in daily dialogue with FIFA, but we don’t seem to be getting any further with his registration,” said the boss, who has let Danny Broadbent go to Gateshead on loan for a month.

“We are waiting for some clarification on certain things, but it’s extremely doubtful at this stage that Jonathan will be involved over at Crewe.”
