LEE CLARK is ready to turn salesman as he builds a new-look Town squad for the 2009-10 League I campaign.

The Galpharm manager, who looks set to land Tranmere midfielder Antony Kay, is aiming to bring in other new faces as well – and says he is making progress.

While the transfer window doesn’t reopen until July 1, deals can be set up on pre-contract agreements.

And Clark explained: “I’ve been busy talking to players, agents and clubs, and I’m confident progress is being made.

“Sometimes you have to be patient, because at this time in the season, it’s usual for a number of clubs to be in the hunt for the same players, certainly ones of the quality we’re interested in.

“And a number of those I’m looking at are currently playing in higher divisions, so it can be a case of selling the club to them.

“We all know the attributes of this club, but sometimes you have to spread the word.

“Players can take some persuasion to drop down in level, so it’s my job to make sure they see the vision I have for this club.

“I believe that when they see where we’re intending to go and how we’re planning to get there, they’ll want to be a part of things.”
