LEE CLARK says he will hold urgent talks with Town chiefs over the state of the Galpharm Stadium pitch.

The manager is concerned that the ball bounces too high off the surface, saying: “I want my team to play passing football, but the pitch is not conducive to that.

“The ball bounces off it like a balloon, and I will speak to the owner, chief executive and directors to see if something can be done about it.

“First and foremost I want us to play winning football, but I want us to be attractive to watch as well.

“It’s no coincidence that a lot of our good performances have come on good pitches.

“In the early part of my tenure, when the pitch was in decent condition, we played some good teams and beat them with good high-tempo, attacking football.

“Sometimes in this division, you have to be prepared to grind out results on not so good pitches.

“But to play the way I believe the game should be played and to bring good footballers into this club, I need a surface where when player A passes to player B, he’s not going to give him a control problem because the ball is bouncing up in the air.”
