LEE NOVAK has signed a one-year Town contract extension, with manager Lee Clark predicting: “This is just the start for him.”

The 21-year-Geordie striker, now with the Galpharm club until 2013, enjoyed a fine debut season, firing 14 goals in 31 starts and a further 14 appearances from the bench.

Those figures proved Clark’s £150,000 investment in the former Gateshead player was sound, but the manager is expecting even more this time around.

“It’s a big year for him. He’s not an unknown now and he has to continue his development, which I have stressed to him,” said Clark.

“He has set his own standards and he needs to kick on.

“I think he will though, because his work ethic and attitude are absolutely brilliant. This contract extension is thoroughly deserved.”

Clark continued: “Lee’s become a crowd favourite because of his work ethic and I think the club have shown that if players come in and do the business they will be rewarded.”
