NEW manager Dennis Wise admits Leeds United are in a massive
"dogfight" to save themselves from the threat of relegation. The Elland Road club are second from bottom of the Coca-Cola
Championship after Saturday's 3-2 defeat by Barnsley at Oakwell. Barnsley fans invaded the pitch in celebration after their
come-from-behind win. Martin Devaney put Barnsley ahead on the half-hour, but Leeds led at
the break thanks to goals from Shaun Derry and Robbie Blake. Barnsley hit back, however, and took the points with strikes from
Michael McIndoe on 62 minutes and Brian Howard 14 minutes from time. Wise said: "We are letting teams back in and we have to be more
solid. "It's a dogfight for us, a fight against relegation at the moment.
"And we need people with big shoulders who are going to dig deep and
give as much as possible." Leeds are on 13 points, just three ahead of bottom club Southend and
now two behind Barnsley, who moved up to fourth from bottom. Cardiff lead on 33 points while managerless Sheffield Wednesday are
on 20 points following their 2-1 home win against Leicester.
