LIAM RIDEHALGH says he’s totally determined to make the most of another Huddersfield Town contract.

The 22-year-old left-back was delighted by manager Mark Robins’ desire to keep him at the Championship club after two seasons out on loan.

Now the academy product, whose last Town appearance came in the 2-0 League I win at Tranmere in April 2011, is eager to prove his worth.

Ridehalgh, due to put the final touches to his new deal this week, has been at Swindon, Chesterfield and most recently Rotherham, who won promotion from League II.

He believes that experience has been invaluable, but says it’s time to stake a claim at Town .

“I’m at that age when I need to get some stability,” said the Halifax-based player, whose 26 Town appearances all came in the 2010-11 campaign.

“I came back after Rotherham’s final match not sure of what would happen back at Town, because I was out of contract.

“To be offered a new one was great, and it’s good to have my future sorted so early in the close-season.

“I’ll be having a bit of a break to recharge the batteries, but I’ll also be doing some work on my own to make sure I’m ready for pre-season.

“Football is a competitive industry, and it’s important to make every day count. I’m ready to work really hard to prove my worth.

“I’ve not had many training sessions under the manager because of not being at the club, but he has a great reputation, and I’m looking forward to becoming a better player under him.”

Robins said: “I have only really got to see Liam in training over the last week of our season but he is under 23, so we have offered a contract and we will see how things progress.”
