Huddersfield Town travel to Burton Albion looking to build on their impressive 2-1 home victory over Bristol City at the weekend.
And the German Head Coach will be looking to gain some much-needed momentum in Staffordshire this evening ahead of a busy pre-Christmas schedule which also takes in Norwich City on Friday evening.
Tonight will be the first ever meeting between the two sides as Town travel to the Pirelli Stadium with no new injury concerns hoping for consecutive wins for the first time since October.
Bringing you all the pre-match news and extensive match comment and analysis is Blake Welton with expert opinion as ever from Doug Thomson – so you won't miss a thing!
Well I’ve got to make a quick getaway I’m afraid as I am travelling back with the Huddersfield Town Supporters Association so that’s it from me for this evening’s LIVE Blog.
Normal service will resume on Friday though as David Wagner’s side make the long trip down to Carrow Road to face Norwich City.
FT: Burton Albion 0 Huddersfield Town 1
The referee blows the whistle - that’s it! Huddersfield Town have won the game with another late goal and grab all three points here at the Pirelli Stadium!!
Referee indicates there will be a minimum of five minutes of added time to be played. Hold onto your seats folk!!
Before the goal Michael Hefele is booked for bringing down Irvine - it’s his fifth of the season but thankfully the cut-off for suspensions has passed. Phew!

85 Minutes: Aaron Mooy’s long free-kick is headed back into the box by Schindler to an unmarked Wells to head home! Another late goal. Another three points?
GET IN THERE HUDDERSFIELD TOWN! NAHKI WELLS SLAMS THE BALL INTO THE ROOF OF THE BURTON ALBION NET AND THE AWAY END DESCEND INTO BEDLAM!!
82 Minutes: Chris O’Grady booked for a foul inside the Town half - much to the annoyance of the home side. Meanwhile, Lee Williamson replaces Hamza Choudhury for the Brewers.
Tonight’s attendance has just been announced as 4,564 - I thought it was a small ground!
80 Minutes: It’s still 0-0 here at the Pirelli Stadium...
76 Minutes: First substitution for Burton Albion tonight - Jamie Ward is replaced by Will Miller.
72 Minutes: David Wagner wanted a solid defensive display tonight and so far that’s what he has got - the defensive to a man have been brilliant. This time Martin Cranie blocks Chris O’Grady’s effort.
69 Minutes: Third and final change for Town - Chris Lowe replaces Holmes-Dennis.
68 Minutes: Burton captain Jackson Irvine finds an unmarked Jamie Ward in the box who scuffs his shot -let off, the Brewers player should’ve done better.
66 Minutes: Town are looking more likely to break the deadlock in the final third but are susceptible to the counter attack....Lucas Akins breakaway shot is blocked by Hefele.
Loving being so close to David Wagner in the technical area tonight - Aaron Mooy gives a loose one-two and the German Head Coach screams ‘Mooooooey’ before turning round and slapping his hand.
So we currently have Palmer (Kasey) vs Palmer (Matty) and Ward (Danny) vs Ward (Jamie) on the pitch at the moment....just as well I have my wits about me!!
58 Minutes: It’s a first touch for Kasey Palmer and it’s a foul - he goes into the referees notebook after a poor tackle on his namesake, Matty Palmer...
56 Minutes: And on cue Phil - Rajiv van La Parra comes on for Harry Bunn and Kasey Palmer replaces Phillip Billing.
54 Minutes: Town are exposed at the back but Martin Cranie comes across expertly to stop Lloyd Dyer from getting a shot on goal. Superb tackling from the full-back!
Off the Line!!!
51 Minutes: That’s the closest we’ve come to a goal here!!!! Harry Bunn finds Kachinga in the box but his attempt is cleared off the line by Damien McCrory.
50 Minutes: Michael Hefele fouls Chris O’Grady 20 yards out but the free-kick sails over the bar from Jamie Ward.
Burton Albion get the second half under way - C’mon Town, all we need is a goal!!!
Half Time Analysis
Here’s what Doug and I made of the opening 45 minutes...
HT: Burton Albion 0 Huddersfield Town 0
The referee blows for the end of the first 45 minutes - it’s been interesting so far but a case of defenders on top at the Pirelli....
Referee indicates one minute of added time at the end of this first half.
42 Minutes: The game is really opening up here - both sides starting to carve opportunities as we head towards the break. It’s a case of defenders on top at the moment though.
It’s still Burton Albion 0 Huddersfield Town 0: It’s tight but certainly entertaining but neither side have really tested the keepers.
