Huddersfield Town were downed by a Wilfried Zaha wonder goal this afternoon, Town had a number of chances and on another day could very easily have scored two or three.
Wagner made one change to the starting line-up which drew so encouragingly at Everton, bringing in Elias Kachunga for fitness doubt Adama Diakhaby and retaining the three centre-backs formation.
Left wing-back Chris Lowe was at the heart of most of Town’s best attacking moves, while Aaron Mooy always tried to get them on the front foot and Phil Billing also prompted with some class.
Zanka was forced to block from Andros Townsend after build-up work from Wilfried Zaha, who started after recovering from an adductor injury.
In the end, it was Zaha's first half wonderstrike that was ultimately the decider, after turning inside of Kachunga and Hadergjonaj his right footed curler found the top.
We expect to hear from David Wagner and Roy Hodgson shortly so stay with us.
Here we will bring you live updates from the post-match press conference, as David Wagner and Roy Hodgson reflect on the action.
Press conference is over
Wagner has now finished with the media. Stick with us on the Examiner website for all the further reaction from this afternoon.
Wagner on the performance
We have shown a great spirit and togetherness, we created chances offensively. We take this result on the chin, we know what we have to do better and we move on.
Wagner on VAR
I haven’t double checked it, maybe one situation where we scored the contact was a bit soft. I don’t think we should speak about the referee today.
Wagner on Zaha
You have to defend clearly, nobody was active but Wilfried, you have to be much more aggressive defending two against one.
Wagner on the match
We’ve been in the game long enough to know that sometimes you don’t get what you deserve.
Hodgson finished
Hodgson has just finished his post-match press conference, we now await David Wagner.
Hodgson on Tomkins and Zaha
Two players of that quality, if we’re going to have the season we want to have we will need them.
Hodgson on John Smith's Stadium
This is a very hard place to come, the atmosphere is very good. If you come here and get three points it’s always hard earned.
Hodgson on Zaha
I didn’t want to take Zaha off the field, because it was 1-0 and Town were pressing us.
