AFC EMLEY boss Ian Banks must feel he has discovered the knack of the half-time team talk.

His side trailed 2-0 at home to Teversal at the interval, but produced an impressive fightback to take three points in the NCE League’s Premier Division with a 4-2 success.

Forced into changes through injury Banks watched his much changed side struggle to find their feet as they fell a goal behind after only 90 seconds.

Emley keeper Michael Clarke had already made a smart save from Lyall but from the resultant corner Teversal snatched the lead as the ball went low into the box and no-one managed to get a foot to it and it found the corner of the net – the taker Cockerill claiming the goal.

On 15 minutes the visitors had added to their lead with a neat cross being met by Lyall and, although Clarke got his hands to the ball, he could not keep it out of the net.

Soon after Emley appeals for a penalty after Steven Kenworthy had been felled were waved away and little seemed to be going their way as Teversal enjoyed the better chances.

All Emley could do was improve and their revival started just two minutes into he second period when a long ball forward from Matt Higginbottom released striker Andy Farrell and he lifted his shot over the advancing keeper and into the net.

An inspired home side, with Oliver Banks pulling the strings in midfield, began to apply pressure and they pulled level on 70 minutes when Banks released Danny Clapham on the right wing and Farrell volleyed his cross into the net.

Having scored two, Farrell then came up with the perfect assist for strike partner Kenworthy as he guided the ball through off his chest and Kenworthy curled his shot round the keeper.

And Emley finished in style with Marc Townsend playing Kenworthy in behind the defence and from his ball across goal banks rifled in a shot that his father (and manager) would have been proud of.

AFC Emley are in action tomorrow evening when they face Grimsby Borough away in a game that will be staged at Brigg Town’s The Hawthornes ground.
