THERE was a hat trick of wins for Sunday League clubs as they continued on the cup trail.

All three West Riding County FA Sunday Cup second round ties postponed a week ago were played and Golcar Con, Huddersfield Irish Centre and Lindley WMC all reached the third round.

Golcar Con had a close encounter with Beech Celtic, who are top of the Leeds Combination league.

Goals from Andrew Allison, Richard Metcalfe, Ben Powis and Warren Brook saw Con through 4-3.

Huddersfield Irish Centre also were taken very close on their trip to Keighley by Oakworth Under 18 Juniors.

Darren Henighan (2), Adam Bell, Ashley Flynn and JC Higgins were on target for Irish as they won 5-4.

Lindley WMC faced Oakenshaw and it was not until the second half that there was any goalmouth action.

Oakenshaw opened the scoring with a scrambled effort on 63 minutes and on 75 minutes Lindley WMC went down to 10 men as Paul Pyke was sent off.

Lindley’s 10 then threw everything forward and in the 89th minute Adam McLachlan rifled home the equaliser. Straight from the kick-off Lindley broke through and Courtney Allette netted the last ditch winner.

There were plenty of goals – a total of 34 – in the four league games.

The highest score was at Bradley Park where Leeds Road Wanderers went down 6-7 to Thornhill Arms. Dale Joy’s hat trick being in vain for the losers.

At Royds Hall the game between Rose & Crown and Kirkheaton saw a total of 10 goals with Crown coming out on top 6-4, although they did only manage to win by scoring two goals in the last five minutes.

For Crown there was a Darren Blower hat trick, with Luke Haigh (2) and Jonny Beverley the other scorers, with the replies for Kirkheaton coming from Marcus Burton (2), Daniel Cooke and Daniel Bradley.

Wellington Westgate continue to hold top spot, with their rivals on cup duty, as they saw off The Lockwood – still seeking their first point of the season – 5-2 thanks to goals from Dominic Harris (2), Alan Augustine, Mark Massey and Richard Shooter.

Marsh Lib notched their second win of the season beating Lepton Lib 3-1. Garry Robinson, Nathan Inman and Andy Morris scoring.
