Terriers boss David Wagner believes new man Michael Hefele will be both all bite and all bark for Huddersfield Town this season – and compared the German defender with an English bulldog.

The manager praised how quickly the well-built Hefele was able to adapt to life in England and his ability to tap into the Terriers identity.

The popular signing has already spoken about his love of scrambled egg and beans and believes he is becoming a “typical Englishman”.

On the former Dynamo Dresden midfielder, Wagner said: “He is a good character for sure.

“Everybody recognises this so he is on one side a leader and on the other a real Terrier – like Hoggy (Jonathan Hogg). He even looks like a dog – a bulldog!

“But on the other side he has had to adapt to our identity and to our style of football, and from the character and how he adapted on the private side in England, I’m sure he will.

“This is unbelievable – how quick he is able to adapt to the English culture and in the dressing room as well. He is a really good guy.”

Hefele has fast become a fan-favourite at the John Smith’s Stadium, already being Town’s biggest shirt seller.

The 25-year-old notched his first goal for his new club in the pre-season against FC Ingolstadt and the eccentric German – as well as Town supporters – will be hoping Hefele can win even more plaudits with his performances on the pitch, along with his antics off it.
