TALENTED striker John McAliskey has received a big boost for Saturday's clash with Bournemouth.

The 20-year-old Galpharm product, who burst on the scene last season with four goals in Town's run to promotion, was watched in the Reserves yesterday by Republic of Ireland Under 21 manager Don Givens.

McAliskey qualifies for the Republic through his grandparents and Givens travelled from his midlands home to run the rule over the skilful finisher.

Scorer of a quality goal in Town's 2-2 draw at Bournemouth, McAliskey came to Givens' attention with a run of five starts in manager Peter Jackson's League I line-up, which ended only with the arrival of loan man Luke Beckett against Barnsley last week.
