MARCUS BROWNING has warned Town to beware of seasoned stars Warren Cummings, Steve Fletcher and Stephen Purches should they end up facing Bournemouth rather than MK Dons in the play-offs.

Lee Clark’s side will take on the team finishing sixth – currently Cherries – over two legs in the semis, away on Saturday week (12.45) and at home on Wednesday, May 18 (7.45).

Browning (black shirt) played for both clubs, helping Bournemouth win promotion from League II via the play-offs in 2003, when they beat Lincoln in the final.

Cummings, Fletcher and Purches were also in that side, and the 40-year-old believes they can do the business again.

“You have just got to treat them like any other game,” said Browning, who played for Town from 1997-99.

“If you start trying to treat the play-offs like a special match and try to change and do different things, then it is not going to work.

“Whatever the opponents, you have played them before so you know what they are all about.

“Can you handle the pressure on the day and stay focused? That is the main thing.

“The fans will be getting anxious and so, probably, will everyone else around the club. But you have just got to try to stay calm.”

Of his old Cherries teammates, former Wales international Browning added: “Their experience will be massively important. They have been through it before so they know what it is all about.

“The main priority is the semi-final games – that is the first hurdle – and then worry about the final.”
