Mark Robins congratulated former club Leicester on their Championship title success – then warned the Foxes faithful he wants to spoil their promotion party.

The visitors have sold their entire 3,850 ticket allocation for the John Smith’s showdown, with their fans looking forward to a first Premier League campaign in a decade.

They have topped this season’s second tier at a canter.

The table shows 96 points with six still available, 29 wins, 13 of them away, and 80 goals scored.

And Nigel Pearson’s side have hit the target at least once in each of their last 31 league and cup games.

“Leicester have been outstanding,” said Robins, a Foxes player from 1995-98.

“They have been strong right from day one.

“They have top players who have maintained their form throughout the season.

“In David Nugent up front, they have a steady stream of goals, and Jamie Vardy alongside him has also made a big contribution.

“They you have Andy King breaking from midfield, basically players throughout the side who can hurt you.

“They have kept this group together for a few years, they have grown together and they kept them fit, which is key.”

Leicester are seeking a double over Town after their 2-1 win in October, when the visitors had James Vaughan sent off.

“I think both myself and Nigel (Pearson) would say that was a fairly open game,” added Robins. “Both sides had chances, and we gave them some real problems, even when we were down to 10.

“We’re planning to do the same again, and we want to put on a show in our last game of the season in front of our fans (Town finish up at Watford next Saturday lunchtime).

“It’s a chance to put down a bit of a marker as we start to look towards next season.”

Robins admits there’s been an air of relief around the PPG Canalside training complex since survival was sealed with Monday’s 2-1 win at Yeovil.

“There’s a tendency to look at negative side of things, but there have been a lot of positives,” he argued.

“At times, we have played some really good stuff.

“But we haven’t won enough games or taken enough points over the second half of the season, and that’s a disappointment.

“It was good to get the win against Yeovil and with two more games left, we want two more wins.

“We have a great chance to finish the season strongly.”

Leicester defender Jeff Schlupp has made Ghana’s provisional squad for the World Cup finals.

The 21-year-old year-old came through the academy as a striker.
