TRIALIST Phil Marsh played 82 minutes as Town Reserves closed their Pontin's Holidays League Central Division campaign with a 0-0 draw at Bradford City last night.

The versatile 20-year-old from Manchester United, who played for Tranmere's second string the previous day, was replaced by Luke Malcher eight minutes from time.

Marsh, who showed glimpses of his pace, could have had a hat trick, going close in the eighth minute and then twice at the start of the second half - the first a stunning volley which flew inches wide.

It was a shame he couldn't convert, because Town had the better of the play throughout against a similarly young Bradford side, whose best chance fell to Xavier Barrau but was denied by Simon Eastwood. Alex Hallam and James Hand had other chances for Town.

Town - Eastwood, Racchi, Codman, Berrett (Killock 52), McCombe, Wilson, Hallam, Bailey, Akins, Marsh (Malcher 82), Hand. Subs not used: Jackson, Roberts.
