TOWN legend Les Massie is the special guest at this year’s Sporting Club annual dinner.

One of only two men living who have scored more than 100 goals for the club – the other is Andy Booth – Massie will be honoured at the event on Monday, November 19 (7.00 for 7.30).

Scotsman Massie netted 108 times in 363 Town appearances between 1956 and 1966, when he signed for Darlington (he later played for Halifax, Bradford Park Avenue and Workington).

Sponsored by Hoyer UK Ltd, profits from the popular event will go through the Town Development Association to support the Academy.

The main football speaker is Ian St John, the former Liverpool and Scotland star who went on to have a successful career as a TV pundit, particularly alongside Jimmy Greaves in the The Saint and Greavsie show.

Then, in this year of the Rugby World Cup, there is former England international Gareth Chilcott, one of the best known faces and voices in rugby union in recent years.

His tales from the scrum at the all-conquering Bath club promise to be highly entertaining.

As ever, the MC is popular BBC presenter Malcolm Lord.

Ticket prices have been frozen at £39 and are available from George Binns on 01484 428530 or 01484 484124.
