ALAN LEE paid a glowing tribute to Town’s loyal fans after firing in the late goal which sank Oldham.

The former Republic of Ireland star came off the bench to clinch the 1-0 derby win which put Town third in League I.

He was hailed by home supporters in a 13,536 Galpharm crowd and smiled: “The fans were brilliant.

“They created a great atmosphere from the start and stuck with us, and it was great to see them celebrating.”

The much-travelled 33-year-old striker says he is enjoying life at his seventh club.

“I love it here and you could see from my reaction how special the goal was,” added Lee, who now has five for the season and needs just one more for a career century in league football.

“I was as high as a kite and I’ve been living on fresh air all weekend, but it’s back to work now, because we’ve got another big one at home to Brentford on Saturday.”
