TOWN will check out reserve regulations to see whether Irish trialist Mark McChrystal can play in next week’s totesport.com League East Division clash with Grimsby.

The Mariners’ second string visit Emley on Wednesday, October 14 (7.00) and Town chief Lee Clark could take another look at the former Derry City defender.

Centre-back McChrystal, a former Northern Ireland Under 21 captain, played in Town’s last reserve outing, a 3-2 win at Bradford City.

And the 25-year-old ex-Wolves and Partick Thistle player also featured in last week’s private friendly victory over Celtic at the Galpharm.

“Mark is back in Ireland on a day-to-day basis, but we will continue to keep tabs on him,” explained Clark.

“Normally trialists can play in two games only, but we need to see whether the Celtic match comes under that ruling.”
