BIG David Mirfin has never been to Cardiff let alone the Millennium Stadium - but he can't wait to get there now!

The 19-year-old impressed again as Town came from two down last night to earn the draw which took them into the Division III play-off final.

"It was an unbelievable feeling when the final whistle went, a mixture of real relief and elation, and now the lads can't wait for a week on Monday to come around," said the Academy product from Sheffield.

"When you think back to Cheltenham - which was one of the worst weekends of my life because we were so down - and compare it with this, it shows the resilience in the whole squad.

"We've shown the fans that we have picked ourselves up and we're all delighted that those fans have been rewarded for their backing with a trip to Cardiff.

"I've never been there before, but it's going to be a massive occasion, a great game whoever we play and hopefully we will come away with a win to take us up."

Mansfield manager Keith Curle, whose side hold a 2-0 lead over Northampton going into tonight's home tie, was in the directors' box last night, leaving when Town were 2-1 down.

"It was a real roller-coaster because in the first half we didn't seem to turn up while in the second, we were a completely different team," said Mirfin.

"Despite a brilliant atmosphere and fantastic backing from our fans, we never got going, so we had to come out with all guns blazing in the second half.

"The crowd were like an extra man, they really geed us up, and once we got one goal back it was always going to be a question of when we'd get another, not if."

Mirfin says Town have just had new squad suits from C & J Antich and Sons and probably don't need new ones for the final. The ties will also do fine.

"We were mobbed coming off the pitch and it's going to be a great occasion down in Cardiff, but we are going there to win and not just for a day out," said Mirfin, whose family were in the crowd.
