DEFENDER David Mirfin will have another late fitness test before today's home clash with Bristol City (3.00).

The 19-year-old, normally a central defender, suffered a thigh strain when playing left-back at Bournemouth last Tuesday, when he scored in a 2-2 League I stalemate.

Boss Peter Jackson had hoped he would make the Hull game, but Mirfin ruled himself out on Saturday morning and watched the game from the main stand at the KC Stadium.

Anthony Lloyd, a regular in last season's promotion side, came in, but the boss was disappointed with his display:

"He looked nervous early on and gave the ball away too often, and while he improved, he didn't really take his chance."

There was also criticism of right-back Andy Holdsworth and centre-back Efe Sodje by a manager who has experienced defender Steve Yates fit again after a knee problem.

Skipper and midfielder Jon Worthington took a knock to the leg on Saturday and was replaced by Lee Fowler with 10 minutes to go.

Bristol City are eighth in the table after their 2-0 home win over Peterborough.

Strikers Steve Brooker and Paul Heffernan got the goals after 30 and 34 minutes.
