GOMERSAL and Cleckheaton are on the march in the Under 15 section League Cup.

The Division I outfit travelled to Hall Green United and came away with a 2-1 win.

However, Hall Green, who are going well in Division II, gave it a good go despite going behind.

The home side drew level through Haydn Ward but it was the visitors who scored the decisive goal and progressed to the next round.

Hall Green’s Under 13 side were made to battle for a point at home against BPA Juniors in Division IV – the contest ending in a 3-3 draw.

Green’s goals came from James Smith, William Askam and the player of the match Adam Margison.

However, Green’s Under 12 side discovered the winning formula.

Division IV leaders Green notched a 3-1 victory over Lepton Highlanders.

After a goalless first half, United dominated the second period with Brandon Dale, Caleb Batley and Brad Beaumont all hitting the target.

A fine performance saw the man-of-the-match award go to Liam Sweeney.

In the Under 10 section’s League Cup Hepworth eased their way through with a 4-2 win at Hall Green Hornets.

The Hornets made a bright start in a cut and thrust opening 10 minutes.

Green opened the scoring with a superb drive from Jack Antonen, but then eased off to let the visitors back in to lead by a goal at half-time.

A sloppy start to the second half saw that lead stretch to 1-4 but a good closing 10 minutes saw Luke Pollard add to his impressive tally for the season.

Goalkeeper Max Fletcher took the player of the match award, with Jack Antonen another strong performer.
