Murray Wallace wants to use his Scunthorpe United loan experience to establish himself under Huddersfield Town’s new head coach David Wagner.

The 22-year-old centre back was on the bench for Chris Powell’s last match as manager at Reading.

And with Joel Lynch suspended, he was restored to the starting side by stand-in boss Mark Lillis for a 50th Town league appearance against Leeds United.

While Lynch has missed out on Wagner’s Spanish training camp with a hamstring injury, Wallace is among a 26-strong group in Marbella.

The former Falkirk player, a £300,000 signing in 2012, says his time under former Town manager Mark Robins at Scunthorpe was valuable.

“I played 13 games and we picked up some good results in the last month and it was great to get some time on the pitch,” he said.

Now Wallace is looking forward to the opportunity of working with Wagner.

“We have the international break and it’s good to have the chance to spend time with him and see what he’s all about,” he added.

Wagner is tasked with developing Town’s younger players, filling Wallace with confidence that he can rekindle his Town career.

“If you can still class me as a young player at the club then it’s happy days for me,” he smiled.

“Right now I’m just focused on my performances and, hopefully, if I play well then the team will also play well.”

Sheffield Wednesday are up next for Town on Saturday, November 21.

And Wallace said: “It’s another derby, and they’ve been doing well.

“It’s a chance for us to go in there and really test ourselves against a strong side.”
